Kids help neighborhood clean up

Members of the Newhall Community Center recently hosted a Neighborhood Clean-Up on Saturday, April 11 to kick off Santa Clarita's Pride Week, which continued through April 18. More than 160 local youth and adult volunteers worked together to beautify the neighborhood adjacent to the Community Center.

Jeff Moir: There goes the neighborhood

In response to Saturday's article by Josh Premako regarding the development along Lyons Avenue ("Developer offers project," April 18), I happen to reside next to the proposed project at Lyons Avenue and Arcadia Street. While the concept drawing shown in The Signal is indeed a beautiful building, it is at best only an artist's rendering and does not show any of the detrimental effects that will be brought to the neighborhood on the Arcadia side of the project.

Stolen shopping carts

There is a problem with grocery carts. The problem is not just with retrieval of the shopping carts. This problem should be eliminated. The carts are taken and abandoned all over town. They are left on sidewalks and street corners and, sometimes, are not picked up for weeks. They blow into the streets creating a traffic hazard for oncoming traffic.

Supervisors weigh investigation, reform in wake of DCFS child death report
