VIA’s monthly luncheon to focus on city’s history, victories and highlights

The Valley Industrial Association (VIA) is holding its monthly business luncheon, Aug. 17 at 11:45 a.m. Keynote speaker, Carl Newton, city attorney for Santa Clarita, will offer a unique overview of the city of Santa Clarita based on his 23 years of service. Councilman Bob Kellar, a longtime resident of the Santa Clarita Valley and mayor in 2004 and 2008, will join Newton.

District announces Measure SA-committee opening

The William S. Hart Union High School District is accepting applications from local residents interested in filling a vacant seat on the Measure SA Citizens Oversight Committee. County renews mediation training for North County jail inmates

Authorities search for two burglary suspects

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station detectives are looking for two suspects who broke into a Canyon Country home Monday afternoon. A man kicked in the front door of a home on the 17500 block of Polar Point Lane after knocking on the front door for several minutes, according to a news release. Two suspects, a man and a woman who were both wearing black clothes, entered the home but fled in a grey pick-up truck after the resident yelled at them and called 911.
