Students propose tourism service

Sierra Vista Junior High students won the 2008 VIA STAR product development contest with their project "SCV Sights to See!" detailing an innovative Santa Clarita touring service. Seventh-grader Logan Stern and eighth-graders Harsitha Sakhamuri, Sal Gonzalez, Connell Crocker, and Shayne Hartigan presented the project to an audience of business professionals on Nov. 18 at the Valley Industrial Association luncheon.

Community leaders jailed at own request

Local business and community leaders will be incarcerated Wednesday. It's all part of the Muscular Dystrophy Association's annual Lock Up. A mock jail will be set up at Outback Steakhouse in Newhall, with local leaders volunteering to be arrested, then "serving time." Jailbirds must raise their own bail by gathering MDA donations from friends and associates. Money raised will be used for the local MDA chapter and help send children with neuromuscular diseases to MDA ...
