Diversity program kicks off Tuesday

A Season of Diversity, a free program designed to promote cultural understanding in Santa Clarita, kicks off Tuesday at 6 p.m. with a presentation of multicultural performers at Canyon High School. The event will take place at the high school, located 19300 W. Nadal St. As part of the Season of Diversity program, which runs from October through February, the city has an essay and poster contest open to students in first through 12th grade in the Santa Clarita Valley. Howard ‘Buck’ McKeon to present Healthcare Leadership Award

Congressman Howard "Buck" McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, will present Linda Hafizi with a Healthcare Leadership Award tonight at 5 p.m. Hafizi has been a part of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation Board of Directors for seven years and publishes The Magazine of Santa Clarita. McKeon will present the award to Hafizi at the Valencia Country Club, 27330 Tourney Road.
