Lori Hanson: Exit the high-stress freeway and relax

Is your life a reflection of driving in the fast lane on the freeway? Do you start your day by mindlessly putting your key in the ignition, backing out of the drive, and after a quick sideways glance, merging on to the freeway and setting cruise control without even thinking?

Jeff Zhorne: Learn skills to heal unresolved grief

"Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry ..." If you are like most people, you are conditioned to automatically respond "alone." If you've suffered a devastating loss such as the death of a loved one, divorce, breakup or other grief experiences, you may be trying to cope with these and other unspoken rules.

Show respect for emergency vehicles

Recently, I have noticed a lot of refusals to stop, pull over or even slow down when emergency vehicles are passing with sirens on and lights flashing. It seems to me that people no longer care about anything but trying to get where they're going, which is (half the time) right up to the next red light.

Gary Horton: The Buck now stops

Energizer Bunnies keep going and going and going – and for a time, it looked like Buck McKeon would be equally perpetual in motion to those furry little drumbeaters. We all know that perception often influences our decisions, yet we catch ourselves and become reminded that what we perceive isn't always what's really going on. With the constant barrage of information available in today's 24/7 world, it's important to not get caught up in the day-to-day market volatility and news headlines.
