School spending should be city’s top priority

The City Council is going to pay $622,000 to help complete the renovation of the Canyon Country Jo Ann Darcy Library. I do not understand where all of this money is coming from when we really need it for our schools.

Time to allow gays to serve in military

Nonprofit provides free dental care for children Dec. 20

This holiday season, the Foundation for Children's Dental Health, in partnership with Donna Lombardi, will provide free oral evaluation, cleaning and fluoride varnish application to school age children on Monday, Dec. 20 and Dec. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the office at 23752 Newhall Ave, Newhall, CA 91321.

COC appoints new board president

The Santa Clarita Community College District Board of Trustees, which oversees College of the Canyons, elected Michele Jenkins as the 2011 board president Wednesday. She replaces Scott Wilk, who remains on the board as a trustee.

Steve Teeman on Thursday was appointed to be the 2011 Castaic Union School District board president. He replaces David Huffaker, who remains on the Castaic Union board. Laura Pearson was selected to be the clerk during the Thursday night board meeting.
