It is difficult to believe that only eight years ago the Democratic Party was being relegated to the political scrap heap and Republicans were speaking in terms of wielding power for generations. It is amazing
Gay marriage is legal! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! I suppose the funniest part of the story is that it was made legal by justices appointed by conservative Republicans! Where is your party now, you religious fanatics, you bigots? The very same people who oppose gay marriage are the same kind of people who opposed multi-racial marriages 30 years ago. These people need to be deported because they are not true Americans. Face it: your ...
To The Editor: I have long supported Robin Clough, Dr. Gene Dorio, and the Senior Center in their efforts to keep the TCU open, and I strongly echo Robin's recent call to conscience for seniors. After considering the various economic and moral arguments presented thus far regarding the fate of the TCU, we must decide whether economics or conscience is more compelling. Personally, I am with Robin on this one, so my conscience is clear. ...
This has been a good month for Melissa Rodriguez, a junior at Golden Valley High School who is enrolled in a dental assisting program through the William S. Hart Union High School District's Regional Occupational Program. To The Editor: Last Thursday's decision by California's Supreme Court was truly overwhelming to me. I am astounded that the ruling to permit same-sex couples an opportunity to recognize their love and commitment to each other in marriage actually occurred in my lifetime, and was decided by four of the six moderate Republicans in the court of seven. The case also had the greatest number of amicus briefs in the history of the California Supreme ...

My dog was brutally mutilated and disemboweled by a roving pack of coyotes that goes unchecked in our neighborhood. The same pack stalks joggers, children, and dogs within our neighborhood. This is fact, evidenced by photographs. Although we have raised concerns within the proper channels, no one has taken any ...

Among the group were school board trustees, teachers, students, parents, business owners, city officials, school district employees and superintendents. In Santa ...
If you pass by the dining room at the SCV Senior Center on a Monday afternoon, you'll find yourself slowing down to listen as the sweet sounds of Hawaiian music drift through the door and you'll swear you hear the ocean and smell the tropical flowers. Dear Robert, The faucets are not right in my guest bathroom. Hot water comes out of the cold side, and cold water comes out of the hot side. I called a plumber and he said it would be about $200 to fix it. I'm not handy and I live on a fixed income but I was wondering if you could tell me what I would need to do. -- Audrey S. Audrey, Just reach under ...
