A massive 10-foot-by-10-foot carrot cake will help celebrate Stonefire Grill's 10th anniversary Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spokeswoman Melissa Mason said the restaurant is expecting up to 3,000 people to attend.

Memorial for fallen deputy today

Former coworkers and family members are holding a memorial service for Sheriff's Deputy Hagop "Jake" Kuredjian, killed nine years ago today in a Stevenson Ranch shootout. The memorial will be held around noon at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, where Kuredjian is buried. Kevyn Major Howard, founder of Fueled by the Fallen (www.fueledbythefallen.com), will be there with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's memorial cruiser, inscribed with the names of fallen lawmen.
