Local girls rock robotics competition

Seven female students, ages 11-14, from the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley took part in an all-day robotics competition this November at La Cañada High School. They walked away with the Research Quality Award, enhanced confidence and memories of an amazing experience.

Food drive helps local pantry

In December, the 30-plus associates of Valencia's Petersen International Underwriters again collected food for the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry in an effort to help make the holidays better for some of the community's less fortunate residents. This is the second year, Peterson made an organized effort to collect food and it was able to triple last year's donation. According to the staff at the SCV Food Pantry, this year's donation will provide food for approximately 250–300 people.
