Partners in Care funds new program for SCV Seniors

Planning Grant to Partners in Care Foundation will identify ways to expand access to vital services LONG BEACH -- The SCAN Foundation today announced it has awarded a $200,000 12-month planning grant to San Fernando Valley based Partners in Care Foundation (Partners) with the goal of expanding access to community-based long-term care services for seniors and caregivers in the Santa Clarita Valley and South Los Angeles.

Local Gymnasts Make JumpStart National Trampoline Team

Two local gymnasts Kaitlin Schultz, 9, and Zoe Zafman, 12, were selected in December 2008 out of approximately 500 athletes nationwide to participate in JumpStart National Testing in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Jan. 24-25. On Monday, Jan. 26 both athletes were named to the Jump Start National Trampoline team.

Hit the Trail community bike ride

Despite drizzling rain, Mayor Frank Ferry and members of the Santa Clarita City Council invited residents and community members to "Hit the Trail" Saturday morning. Hit the Trail was a community bike ride ending in a rally at Bridgeport Park. The bike ride followed the city's trail system and had three starting points around Santa Clarita. Deputies confiscate 100 firearms

During the month of December, DISARM officers confiscated 100 weapons - including 50 handguns and 20 rifles and shotguns, $245,000 in illegal drugs, and arrested 132 probationers during 2,046 unannounced searches of residences, persons, vehicles, and businesses, Supervisor Michael D.
