Memorial for fallen deputy today

Former coworkers and family members are holding a memorial service for Sheriff's Deputy Hagop "Jake" Kuredjian, killed nine years ago today in a Stevenson Ranch shootout. The memorial will be held around noon at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, where Kuredjian is buried. Kevyn Major Howard, founder of Fueled by the Fallen (www.fueledbythefallen.com), will be there with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's memorial cruiser, inscribed with the names of fallen lawmen. A 25-year-old Canyon Country man was being held on $46,000 bail Monday after deputies found brass knuckles, cocaine and an open beer container in his vehicle, authorities said.
