Fire Department rescues boy in tree

Firefighters, below, deploy a net as they rescue an 8-year-old boy, indicated with a white arrow, from a tree in Valencia Meadows Park on Wednesday afternoon. Los Angeles County firefighter Jason Leslie holds onto the boy while waiting for a ladder. The Fire Department was called when the boy refused to come down from the tree after he had climbed as high as 40 feet, officials said. The child was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
