Hart district sends potential layoff notices to 95 certificated employees

The Wm. S. Hart Union High School District mailed notices of potential layoffs to 95 certificated employees this week, fulfilling a legal obligation to notify employees whose jobs could be affected by a possible "reduction in force" due to the current State budget crisis.

Senior Center changes: haircuts, dance class, Trips & Tours

The SCV Senior Center will again make haircuts available on Fridays as of April 3. Mary Doman will be available from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Room A2 for haircuts at $10 each. Old Town Newhall streetscaping starts Monday

The city of Santa Clarita is moving forward with another significant investment in Old Town Newhall - the beginning of a new "streetscape" for two blocks of Main Street. Construction officially begins on Monday, March 16 and will include two blocks of street improvements from 6th Street to 8th Street. A response to the E-Verify editorial

I certainly agree that we must compel employers to use the E-Verify system. The employers who hire people who are not in the system should be prosecuted. We have people working in discount stores in Newhall and fast-food restaurants in Valencia and Canyon Country who do not speak one word of English. Did those employers use the system?
