Tim Myers: Council should avoid national issues

Before the citizens of the 38th District sent Cameron Smyth to the California Assembly, and before he ascended to the Santa Clarita City Council, he worked on the staff of Republican state Sen. Pete Knight. His duties included acting in the role of representative for Knight at various community functions, which cynics found a rather lucrative and time-effective way of running for local office while also earning a paycheck.
