Why all the screaming?

You know, for what appears to be about a $12-a-month hike per water bill, there is sure a lot of screaming going on. Too bad we don't get that kind of response for other, more vital items like resurfacing and restriping our roads and fixing pot holes.

Plant may be pointless

I was just apprised of an article in the Fillmore paper regarding a water-treatment plant the city of Fillmore replaced ("John Jenks tours new Fillmore WRP," The Fillmore Gazette, March 18, 2009). It seems to me that the water board should know about this and it should have an effect on the need for the Santa Clarita Valley to build another, especially at the cost they are quoting.

Tim Myers: The problem with districts

Last week I discussed the improbable possibility of a recall election of the sitting Santa Clarita City Council members who annoy a significant slice of the small electorate in the city, mainly by the fact that they still sit on that august elected body. This week I move forward to examine another mooted possibility: Electing the five council members by districts rather than the current at-large system.
