A known gang member was arrested Saturday morning after being shot in the hand and back by an unknown suspect in Canyon Country, sheriff's records revealed Monday.

Gorell names Woman of the Year

Assemblyman Jeff Gorell, who represents a large portion of Castaic, honored Janice Parvin as the 2011 Woman of the Year for the 37th Assembly District during a special ceremony Monday. Parvin has become an active voice within the city of Moorpark. She is the chair for the Ventura County Council of Government and vice-chair of Ventura LAFCO. Parvin is also on the board of the California League of Cities.
