Surprises on Arizona’s horizon

I am just heartsick over the fact that our government intends to bring a lawsuit against Arizona. It is mind-blowing. Usually, I get angry. But this is unforgivable.

Perk up your picnic

Warm weather is here, and there is no better time for a picnic at your local park or beach. Regarding "Getting rid of developer kissers," (July 6), columnist Bruce McFarland sings the praises of the Democrats and says that they're natural allies of the tea party. Well, I'll skip the obvious jabs at the free-spending Democrats in Sacramento and Washington he helped elect who are bankrupting our country. Many other Signal readers will send that message, I'm sure.

Cameron Smyth: What we’ve got here is a failure to communicate

In recent years, our community has gone to great lengths to reduce chloride levels in the water we send downstream into Ventura County. First, we banned the installation of new salt-based water softeners, and then we approved a measure that expanded the ban to existing water softeners.
