Last Tuesday marked the 68th anniversary of a now-forgotten event, the first of two incomprehensible acts of mass murder. Both would be eclipsed by the convulsions of a world at war then trivialized by the passage of time.

I am sure that the lives of Alberto Lopez ("Facing the border: A day laborer's story," The Signal, Feb. 7) and other "undocumented aliens" are challenging at best; however, so are the lives of countless Americans who have been paying into the system for years.
When Tom Crosswhite ("Progressive stealth," The Signal, Feb. 2) wrote "Progressives think their internal agenda to destroy the middle class and create dependency will be hidden by their external message of hope and change," he had it totally backward.
