Give loans a happy rap

The recent article Jim Walker penned regarding the inefficiency and ineptitude of the big banks concerning their loan-modification process ("The 2010 rap: loan modification and self-mutilation," Aug. 20) was indeed funny. The humor was certainly the result of many frustrating and time-consuming calls that appeared to be an utter waste of time.

On Aug. 31, there appeared in the Los Angeles Times an editorial titled "Iraq after U.S. combat forces withdraw," written by Congressman Howard "Buck" McKeon. He emphasized the importance of continuing "crucial support to Iraq."

Nothing positive about it

Regarding "Castaic High faces high hurdles," (Aug. 23): My family and I have been residents here in this valley since the 1960s. It has always been a valley of horse people and outdoor people. In the 1980s, it became a popular place for people to move to. With population growth, we needed more schools.
