The real jokers

As my wife and I drove to the Westfield Valencia Town Center on Saturday, we passed the local post office where the usual "Obama haters" had once again set up shop to spew their vitriol, as they do every Saturday. They like to post cartoons of the president depicting him as "the Joker" from the Batman comics. As we drove on, we noticed a fellow posting more "Joker" drawings of President Barack Obama on telephone poles in that same area.

Freedom, not oppression

Regarding David Hegg's column "When world views collide," (Aug. 15): There are many different Christian interpretations of the Bible - from conservative to progressive. So I wonder, why would Pastor Hegg's interpretation of God's rules - his world view - be the one that the entire state must make its laws by?

Local biopharmaceutical company to sell shares

MannKind Corporation, a Valencia biopharmaceutical company, announced that it has entered into an agreement with Seaside 88, a private investment limited partnership, for the sale of 700,000 shares of common stock to Seaside 88 every two weeks over the course of a year, for up to a total of up to 18.2 million shares of MannKind common stock. The initial sale is expected to close on Sept. 22.
