As a frequent driver of the Hasley Canyon roundabout, I have observed that 90 percent of drivers have no idea of the rules or etiquette involved in roundabout usage. Installing one of the proposed pieces of artwork in the center of the Newhall Roundabout is an invitation to disaster, as drivers try to figure out what it represents, rather than paying attention to their driving.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit the Simi Valley Senior Center. This center is state of the art, with modern architecture, and large carpeted meeting rooms. I saw a room filled with computers offering all levels of training. It seemed to go on and on as one hallway led into another. My understanding is this center is owned by the city of Simi Valley. Funds come from the city. Additional funding comes from holding events, including weddings.

Yet today we are fast becoming a nation that is not only ignorant of its past, but pleased about it.
