City removes Saugus neighborhood restrictions, begin Phase II of study

As part of a six month long traffic study, the city of Santa Clarita will remove turn restrictions at two intersections on Copper Hill Drive, as well as on Bouquet Canyon Road to test the effectiveness of speed cushions installed this spring. The turn restrictions will be removed for three months, during which city staff will monitor traffic volume and speed in the Benz Road neighborhood.

McKeon small business health plan shot down

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Early this morning, Democrats on the House Committee on Education and Labor opposed an amendment by Congressman Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) that would have protected small businesses and working families by authorizing Small Business Health Plans.

UPDATED: Man shot in Newhall; shooter at large

A man was shot near a Newhall apartment complex early Friday, a sheriff's sergeant said. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a man walked up and shot him just after midnight in the 23000 block of Valle del Oro, said Sgt. Gary Parker of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. Sheriff's deputies were still looking for the shooter, he said. It wasn't clear what prompted the attack.
