LOS ANGELES COUNTY -- During the month of September, DISARM officers confiscated 109 weapons, including 34 handguns, four assault rifles, and 21 rifles/shotguns, $17.5 million in illegal drugs, and arrested 207 probationers during 1,660 unannounced searches of residences, persons, vehicles, and businesses, according to Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

A hiker who was stranded at the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park on Friday was rescued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department, authorities said. The hiker was found at the 10700 block of Escondido Canyon Road at about 6:30 p.m., fire officials said. The hiker wasn't injured, authorities said, but it was not clear on Friday if he had to be airlifted out of the area.
The National Association of Manufacturers has selected Congressman Howard "Buck" McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, to receive the nonpartisan organization's Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence for his support of manufacturers and their employees in the United States.
