Tomorrow will find me getting my game face on to announce the Santa Clarita Fourth of July Parade, the biggest piece of (wonderful) cheese outside of Wisconsin, hoping against hope for another in a string of unseasonably cool parades for the protection of myself and the folks who actually must walk that entire parade route on hot concrete.

A few years ago, I was reading an article that presented four important elements in the transition from childhood to adulthood as they related to the chances of ending up in poverty. The elements were: education, career, marriage and children.
Democrat and Republican governors across the country are working to cut costs and lower taxes, but Gov. Jerry Brown's plan to level California's $26 billion deficit - the result of several years of out-of-control government spending - is a "realignment" proposal that not only extends the previous administration's ineffective tax hikes, but also irresponsibly shrugs the state's financial burden onto the shoulders of cash-strapped county and municipal governments, creating a real threat to California's economic recovery and public safety.
Santa Clarita has an opportunity to be a part of Jamie Oliver's "Food Revolution," which is essentially a show to teach folks how to eat properly and to ensure our children are receiving good nutrition at our schools.
