City begins pavement overlay project Monday

The city of Santa Clarita will begin its Roadway Asphalt Rehabilitation Project on Monday, Oct. 5 along Soledad Canyon Road between Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon Road. Construction is expected to last through Nov. 2009.

East Walker Ranch added to Santa Clarita open space

City officials dedicated 140 acres of open space in Placerita Canyon Wednesday afternoon. Formerly home to Special Devices, Inc., the hilly property was purchased last summer for $2.5 million. Some of those funds came from the city's Open Space Preservation District, which assesses property owners $26 per year. Dubbed East Walker Ranch, the property lies just east of the Placerita Nature Center.
