As election day approaches, I find the need to inform the Castaic community, which I love so dearly, as to what I think is best for the Castaic Union School District. I have served on the Castaic school board for the past eight years and am presently honored to be president as I was in 2007. I also served on the Castaic Town Council from 2001 through 2008. A council member cannot serve more than two consecutive terms and that is the reason I am no longer serving in that capacity.
This is an alert to all voters of the Newhall County Water District. Kathryn Colley is not, in my opinion, a viable candidate for director on the district board. She has shown no interest in the water district prior to this election and still does not attend any meetings, even during the campaign. She also did not show up for a candidate forum.

I always wondered who was the inspiration for the Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World" commercials and then it hit me - Alan Barbakow!
I am a digital media student and I have followed The Signal for a long time. The photos are getting better in The Signal, but I think you should update the fonts on the Web site. The title and the symbol of the eagle are a poor design.
The upcoming Nov. 3 Board of Trustees election for the Santa Clarita Community College District, specifically, College of the Canyons, is made all the more critical given the current status of the California and national economy.
I've been watching and waiting for the past decade as the William S. Hart Union High School District failed time and again to deliver on its promise to build a much-needed high school in Castaic. This Nov. 3, we have an opportunity to end the waiting by electing
The election for the William S. Hart Union High School District board is important. While not the largest operating budget in the Santa Clarita Valley anymore, the Hart district is the largest employer (excepting Six Flags Magic Mountain during the summer season) for the valley.
Hello, Santa Clarita Valley! Welcome to The-Signal.com's Daybreak, your point of entry for the day, and a quick journey through the past, present and future. Let the adventure begin:
Sometimes you've just got to go with the candidates that you know best, and that is why I am voting Brian Koegle for College of the Canyons' governing board and Joe Messina for the William S. Hart Union High School District board. I understand what Koegle and Messina bring to the prospective offices they are running for.
I freely choose to put my political opinions out among the public, so I accept I will elicit a fair share of protest for holding said opinions.
Let me introduce myself, what I stand for and why I am running again for a seat on the Castaic Union School District Board of Trustees.
I would like to share what a pleasure and honor it has been to work alongside both Joan MacGregor and Suzan Solomon.
I have had the opportunity and privilege to serve with and sit beside Joan MacGregor on the College of the Canyons Board of Trustees for the past 12 years. During that time, the college has grown into a major force in our community and has become one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation. Much of that can be attributed to the leadership of Chancellor Dianne Van Hook. But it is also due to the leadership of board President Joan MacGregor. She has asked the hard (and sometimes unpopular) questions that have needed to be asked. As a result ...
We all know that perception often influences our decisions, yet we catch ourselves and become reminded that what we perceive isn't always what's really going on. With the constant barrage of information available in today's 24/7 world, it's important to not get caught up in the day-to-day market volatility and news headlines. That daily hype doesn't always dovetail with what Wells Fargo Advisors top strategists are observing in the financial marketplace.
With everything from nationally ranked academic programs to effective career education opportunities and college placement services, Hart district students are afforded every opportunity to excel in an increasingly competitive academic environment.
