Charter College students get high pass rate

Charter College in Canyon Country has recorded a 100 percent pass rate in the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses, August through September 2009. This high pass rate has been ongoing since the program first started in February 2007. The institution's Vocational Nursing program is recognized by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. The program has been designed to prepare students with nursing skills for direct patient care. Students receive training in pediatrics, mental health, hospice, home health, rehabilitation and family nursing/obstetrics. Kindergarten roundup at Saugus school district

The Saugus Union School District is hosting kindergarten roundup from March 1 to 5. Children must be five years old on or before Dec. 2 in order to enroll. Families need an original birth certificate, two utility bills or lease/escrow papers for proof of residence and immunization records in order to register.

SCV Youth Orchestra receives $9k grant

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra (SCVYO) Foundation and the College of the Canyons student orchestras have been awarded a $9,000 challenge grant from the Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation (HMNF) to establish a musical library on the COC Valencia campus.

COC Paralegal Studies program receives ABA approval

The American Bar Association's (ABA) House of Delegates this week awarded full approval to the College of the Canyons Paralegal Studies program. With the House of Delegates' decision, the COC Paralegal Studies program becomes the only ABA approved program of its kind in the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys - and one of approximately 30 such programs in the state.
