COC's Canyon Call to be greatly missed

Sadness and disappointment are the words that best describe my reaction to the news of the imminent demise of the Canyon Call ("Student newspaper classes cancelled at COC," The Signal, Aug. 9), the venerable student newspaper at College of the Canyons.

Mass. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy dies at 77

HYANNIS PORT, Mass. (AP) -- Massachusetts Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the liberal lion of the Senate, has died after battling a brain tumor. He was 77.

Kennedy's family announced his death in a brief statement released early Wednesday.

Newhall Community Center soccer team rises to semi-finals

The city of Santa Clarita's Newhall Community Center 'Under-17' soccer team competed in the semi-finals of the 2009 FC Irvine Showcase Soccer Tournament. The team battled its way through the tournament, competing against 200 premiere teams from California, Canada and Spain.
