ATF posts 2009 Los Angeles gun crime stats

LOS ANGELES -- John Torres, Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), announces the release of aggregate trace data for crime guns recovered in Los Angeles and submitted to ATF for tracing for calendar year 2009.

NEW YORK (AP) - Filmmaker Ken Burns is wading into baseball's steroids era for a postscript to his 1994 PBS documentary about the sport.

The nine-part 1994 series "Baseball" was a refuge for fans during a year the sport was shut down for a strike.

Brush fire doused

A half-acre brush fire near the northbound Highway 14 at Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country was doused by a water-dropping helicopter at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.
