City ranks among top cities for information technology operations

According to the Center for Digital Government, the city of Santa Clarita maintained its rank in 2009 as one of the top 10 municipal information technology operations in the nation, and number one in California among cities with populations of 125,000 to 250,000. Review: 'A Christmas Carol'

"A Christmas Carol" by Robert Zemeckis (and Charles Dickens, of course) is an exhilarating visual experience and proves for the third time he's one of the few directors who knows what he's doing with 3-D. The story that Dickens wrote in 1838 remains timeless, and if it's supercharged here with Scrooge swooping the London streets as freely as Superman, well, once you let ghosts into a movie there's room for anything.

Review: 'The Men Who Stare at Goats'

Bear with me here. Imagine "Ghostbusters" is based on a true story. Imagine the Big Lebowski as a real-life U.S. Army general. All factual, right? That's what "The Men Who Stare at Goats" sort of wants us to believe. I think I sort of do - to a small degree, sort of. "More of this is truer than you would believe," the movie says in an opening title. I'm waiting for the review of this one in Skeptic magazine.

Traffic stop leads to "honey oil lab" discovery, arrest of 20-year-old

At approximately 6pm, on Saturday, May 24, 2014, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station's Summer Violent Crime Enforcement Program (SVCEP) stopped a vehicle for routine traffic violations. Upon contacting the driver, deputies could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was detained pending a narcotics investigation, and the vehicle was searched. Inside the vehicle's trunk, deputies found all the makings for a lab, used to extract hash oil (also known as honey oil) from marijuana.
