NASA's WISE spacecraft launches Dec. 9

WASHINGTON -- The launch of NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, or WISE, aboard a Delta II rocket is scheduled to occur between 9:09 a.m. and 9:23 a.m. EST on Wednesday, Dec. 9, from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Castaic school site meeting encores on local cable TV

Antonovich expands cross-reporting of child abuse cases to city attorneys

LOS ANGELES COUNTY - To enhance the prosecution of abusers and prevent future child abuse, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich to expand cross-reporting to nine additional cities; Burbank, Hawthorne, Santa Monica, Torrance, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Long Beach, Pasadena and Redondo Beach.

"With this vital partnership between the Department of Children and Family Services, law enforcement, the Dependency Court, and these additional City Attorney's Offices, we can more effectively protect the children of Los Angeles County," Antonovich said.

Traffic stop leads to "honey oil lab" discovery, arrest of 20-year-old

At approximately 6pm, on Saturday, May 24, 2014, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station's Summer Violent Crime Enforcement Program (SVCEP) stopped a vehicle for routine traffic violations. Upon contacting the driver, deputies could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was detained pending a narcotics investigation, and the vehicle was searched.
