House Democrats prepare to unveil health bill

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Democrats reached agreement Wednesday on key elements of a health care bill that would vastly alter America's medical landscape, requiring virtually universal sign-ups and establishing a new government-run insurance option for millions.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi planned a formal announcement Thursday morning in front of the Capitol. Lawmakers said the legislation could be up for a vote on the House floor next week.

New report reveals drop in greater L.A. homeless population

Watchdog finds 20 states charge for alcohol harm

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- According to a new online resource made available today by Marin Institute, there is a growing number of states collecting funds from the sale of alcoholic beverages and earmarking the dollars for programs that mitigate alcohol related harm.

Road rehab delayed on Soledad, McBean

Night work on Soledad Canyon Road and McBean Parkway as part of the City's Asphalt Rehabilitation Project is postponed due to anticipated nighttime weather conditions.
