Obama to sign health bill, take it on the road

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is poised to sign the landmark health care bill ushering in near-universal medical coverage for the first time in the nation's history - and then he'll hit the road to resume selling it to a reluctant public.

Obama will travel to Iowa City, Iowa, on Thursday, the White House said, as he turns to seeing a companion bill through the Senate and talking up the overhaul's benefits on behalf of House members who cast risky votes.

UPDATED: Congress passes historic health care bill

WASHINGTON (AP) - Summoned to success by President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled Congress approved historic legislation Sunday night extending health care to tens of millions of uninsured Americans and cracking down on insurance company abuses, a climactic chapter in the century-long quest for near universal coverage.

"This is what change looks like," Obama said a few moments later in televised remarks that stirred memories of his 2008 campaign promise of "change we can believe in."

Joe Klocko: Criteria for business success

When you think of California do words like innovative, leading-edge and trendy come to mind? A place where new ideas first take root before they become woven into the very fabric of the national culture and industrial base before becoming recognized around the world as being uniquely "American". If so, you may be surprised to learn that in one area, the critical business process of selecting and hiring new employees, California is lagging behind the rest of the country.

Gary Horton: The Buck now stops

Energizer Bunnies keep going and going and going – and for a time, it looked like Buck McKeon would be equally perpetual in motion to those furry little drumbeaters. The man is after all, 75, and still beating war drums while running circles around most of us. Yet now it seems that both Buck the man, and his underlying message of perpetual militarism may be running down, with time well deserved for some R and R away from the military industrial complex.

Busting misconceptions about investor perceptions

We all know that perception often influences our decisions, yet we catch ourselves and become reminded that what we perceive isn't always what's really going on. With the constant barrage of information available in today's 24/7 world, it's important to not get caught up in the day-to-day market volatility and news headlines.
