The least-known and most-ignored part of your midterm election ballot is the section on judges. If you stop and ponder the importance of these elected judgeships, you might agree with me when I say this part of your ballot is absolutely vital.

The identity a woman found burned in Castaic earlier this week was still unknown on Thursday after an autopsy was performed on her body, coroner's officials said. The woman's body was discovered Monday while firefighters were putting out a brush fire off Templin Highway a few yards east of Interstate 5.
