Don't need Plambeck's preaching

Is it me, or is anyone else tired of being talked to like a three-year-old by Lynne Plambeck ("Mom, apple pie and water conservation," Jan. 28)? She calls my lawn useless and childishly reminds me to make sure to wash my dishes and clothes with a full load.

Our view: Economic reform starts here in the SCV

Illegal is illegal

Illegal immigration is illegal. I've got nothing but admiration for those who come here legally and become citizens. I've got a real problem with folks who come illegally, want to fly a flag other than the Stars and Stripes, use benefits that they've never contributed to, and won't learn the language.

R.J. Kelly: How we navigated the water scene in 2009

With California's water supply at a well-publicized crossroads, the past year has posed significant challenges to water professionals statewide, and the coming year promises a continuation of those challenges as well as a potential major turning point in the way our state manages this essential resource.

Kellar tells the truth

I would like to address the accusations made against Santa Clarita City Councilman Bob Kellar. At a Jan. 16 public meeting he said there should be only one flag flying over this country. I agree, the Stars and Stripes is the only flag that should represent the United States.

Should kids take vitamin supplements?

Some things you just don't forget. One of those things for me was lining up with my siblings before leaving for school. There was one thing we had to do before running out the door to catch the bus. Let me explain. My mother was involved. She held a large bottle in one hand and a tablespoon in the other. That's right, a tablespoon, not a teaspoon.

8 most common job injuries

When a workplace injury occurs, actual injury costs are often between five to 50 times the size of the obvious direct costs of medical expenses and salary for the injured worker. Developing a healthy relationship with food is just as important as developing a relationship with family members. When we have an unhealthy relationship with food, we are causing harm to our bodies. We may be putting in the wrong types of food, not enough food or an excess amount of food into our bodies. When we have a healthy relationship with food, we are able to keep our weight ...
