Eye injuries increase over holidays

LOS ANGELES (PRNewswire-USNewswire) -- Parents should take extra care in selecting toys for young children and supervising their play during the holidays, according to a leading eye surgeon.

According to Dr. Mark Borchert, director, The Vision Center at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, certain toys, such as BB guns, pose a particular danger for young children. "While a BB gun pellet may not break the skin of a young child, it can puncture his eye very easily. Unfortunately, every Christmas I see young children in our emergency room who have had an eye destroyed by a BB pellet."

Dave Bossert - Status quo is the way to go Nov. 3

With two weeks until the Nov. 3 election and the absentee ballots already out, the election is practically over at this point. That is the usual mantra from those who say their vote won't really make a difference. I don't believe that. With this advisory vote for the westside unincorporated communities, every vote matters.

Valdes is a win-win pick

There is an underdog in the William S. Hart Union High School District board race. You don't see nearly as much press for Linda Valdes as you do for the other candidates, but I truly hope they don't underestimate the impact Linda has had on Santa Clarita.

Really, Signal?

What has become of the small town in which I grew up? Over the years I've watched folks move in and for some reason they want to elevate themselves to a status above all the rest. I often think I wish they would move back to wherever they came from.

Busting misconceptions about investor perceptions

We all know that perception often influences our decisions, yet we catch ourselves and become reminded that what we perceive isn't always what's really going on.
