Overall crime continues to decline in LASD policed communities

As of Sept. 30, preliminary crime data shows that criminal homicides in sheriff's patrol areas have decreased by 15.09 percent, compared to the same year-to-date period last year (160 homicides last year compared to 134 this year).

Closures set for 1-5, Highway 14 freeways Oct. 24-29

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes, ramps, and connectors of the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14), the Foothill Freeway (I-210) and the Golden State Freeway (I-5) as part of a $161-million improvement project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lanes and a direct HOV lane connector at the I-5/SR-14 interchange.
