COC introduces new program

College of the Canyons has introduced a new program for the fall for students who need additional academic support and skills to help them succeed in the college classroom.

Sponsored by the Skills for Success initiative, the new program will offer instructor-led one-hour workshops on a variety of topics from fractions to essay writing.

Supervisors offer reward for arsonist

Los Angeles County officials have issued a $50,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrests and conviction of the suspect or suspects who started the 160,000-acre Station Fire.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the reward during its Tuesday meeting, days after the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Unit ruled the fire as being caused by arson.

Toddler dies after falling into pool

A 2-year old boy died Saturday after he fell into a pool at a home on the 24000 block of La Glorita Circle in Newhall, said Sgt. Dan Peacock of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
