I've always wanted to visit England and Scotland. Half of my ancestors came from the United Kingdom.
I had a wonderful trip to England and Scotland. We had amazing weather and saw so many fabulous sights. The food was much better than I expected! However, I am very happy to be back in the Santa Clarita Valley, triple-digit temperatures and all! I am very pleased that winter is on its way. Perhaps we can have some "pleasant" (cooler) weather here, too!

My favorite month of the year is nearly here! I love October. It means that summer is almost over in the Santa Clarita Valley. I do believe that August, September and October are the hottest months of the year in the SCV. Come Nov. 1, we'll finally cool down. So Oct. 1 means only 31 more days of wretched heat, I hope! However, October has many other charms, including the annual "spookfests' that inhabit the historic SCV.
It's mid-September? Really? The countdown to the holidays will be upon us before we know it. For some, the High Holy Days are here with Rosh Hashana beginning to night at sundown and Yom Kippur arriving on Sept. 25.

Don't you love three day weekends? Labor Day is always considered the unofficial end of summer. Are you hosting one last pool party? Having a barbecue? Traveling this weekend out of town? Whatever your plans, enjoy! It would be nice if the weather cooperates and we get some cooling temperatures! Of course, summer temperatures usually continue to hang around the Santa Clarita Valley through the end of October.
Cheri Fleming ascended to the national stage during the 42nd Biennial Convention of Soroptimist International of the Americas.
It's the last Sunday in August. How did that happen? What are you doing for Labor Day weekend? I'll be getting ready for my trip to England and Scotland. I'm still seeking reader suggestions for best "tea" in London and other ideas.

Mother's Day is behind us but Father's Day is only a week away! Don't forget dad! It's time to do something special for your dad this year, ditch the tie and think of something fun. Buy him a jersey from his favorite sports team, a "steak and potatoes" dinner or give him a break from "honey do" chores. Be creative!
