Teachers protest cuts in front of City Hall

A group of teachers and parents wave to passing cars on Valencia Boulevard in front of City Hall in Santa Clarita on Friday. The group was protesting state budget cuts to education. Nearly 80 Santa Clarita Valley teachers have been laid off this year as local educators prepare for another year of funding cuts from the state. In recent years, local school districts have been forced to shorten the school year, increase class sizes and cut programs.
