Rail board approves study of Sand Canyon routes

The California High Speed Rail Authority board approved the study of two routes for the Bay Area-to-Los Angeles train that would take passengers travelling between Sylmar and Palmdale on a rail that comes close to Sand Canyon schools and homes, a spokeswoman confirmed Friday.

Member of founding family dies

Edward Walker, an avid gold miner and member of one of Placerita Canyon's founding families, passed away last month at age 98, his family confirmed Monday. Gas prices dropping, but it’s still too expensive, residents say

Falling gas prices is good news for Santa Clarita Valley drivers, but several said Thursday they're still feeling the pinch at the pump with prices staying stubbornly above $4 a gallon.
