LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has ordered all city flags flown at half-staff in memory of the 19 Hotshot firefighters killed by an Arizona forest fire.

Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck has similarly asked his officers to wear mourning bands to honor the crew. Beck calls it an unspeakable tragedy.

The tragedy has hit close to home in Southern California.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Tony Akins says 21-year-old Kevin Woyjeck (WOY'-chek), the son of a veteran county fire captain, was among those killed.
