The Burbank man charged with murder in last week’s fatal wrong-way multi-vehicle crash on Highway 14 missed his first day in court because he was still in the hospital.

Bradford Pate, 38, was scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court on Thursday on the felony charge filed against him, but he was a “medical miss-out,” said Jane Robison, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Pate is charged with two counts of murder and other charges for allegedly slamming his pickup truck into oncoming traffic while traveling southbound in the Highway 14 northbound lanes, Robison said.
