An alternative that makes sense

Below is a letter sent to the senior engineer, Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County. It offers an alternative to the chloride proposal that makes sense.

Mary Jacobs, Senior Engineer

Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County

1955 Workman Mill Road

Whittier, CA 90601

Dear Ms. Jacobs:

Re: Chloride Compliance Facilities Plan

I was discussing the issue with Roger Combs (who I believe has an engineering background). His solutions appear to be more economical than what we are seeing so far.

He said, "Since we are buying and transporting the water from the (Sacramento-San Joaquin) Delta, I don’t think we have any obligation to send it downstream.

"As far as I am concerned, (Ventura County) can get the rain runoff. Our sending the water is creating a man-made condition. Of course, then we could also offer to sell (the) water to Ventura (as is)."

"But there should be plenty of underground storage available (here in Santa Clarita) and it would help our underground water situation immensely."

Please tell me it’s not too late to consider these alternatives?
