At least four people began fighting with a local sheriff’s deputy who responded to reports of a stabbing in Canyon Country on Wednesday, a Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s spokesman said.

About 12:45 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a possible stabbing on Sundowner Way near the Canyon Oaks condo complex, said Sgt. Rich Nagler.

“One of our deputies detained several individuals and got into a fight with four, possibly five individuals,” he said.
About 20 deputies responded to the fight, according to Deputy Josh Dubin.

When the skirmish ended, deputies arrested three people and took them to jail, where they remained in custody, said Lt. John Rush.

The three were booked for assault with a deadly weapon and interfering with the duties of a peace officer, Rush said.

The suspects suffered minor injuries in the fight and were treated for their injuries.

However, neither Sheriff’s Department investigators nor Fire Department personnel could confirm anyone had been stabbed.
