A Castaic man accused of spearing to death his family’s pet dog and cat, then lighting the dog’s body on fire, remains out on bail and is not expected back in court for another month, court officials said Tuesday.

Jared Andrew Foster, 23, was scheduled to appear this week in San Fernando Superior Court on animal cruelty charges, but his arraignment was re-scheduled to July 19, said Jane Robison, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Foster was arrested Wednesday night after Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to reports that a man had killed his pets at the family’s Castaic home. He was released on $20,000 bail.
