Posters need to exhibit basic courtesy

Today being Sunday, June 23, there hasn’t been a new Letter to the Editor printed in the SCV Signal in five days, since June 18?

Knowing that there is a vast number of LTE writers here in Santa Clarita with very strong convictions and opinions, it doesn’t seem feasible that SCV Signal didn’t have at least one new LTE to print in five days?

At times for an LTE writer, to submit an LTE they are hesitant to do so due to some of the posters’ off-beat and inane comments!

Not to say that these posters don’t have the right to post what they want, but going off on tangents not relating to the LTE contents is very disconcerting and frustrating.

Rudeness, meanness, cynicism, disregard for one’s feelings, deficiency in manners and an overall hatefulness seems to be the creed of the posters.

Criticism and not agreeing is all well and good, especially if the criticism is constructive.

Agree with this LTE or not — and there will be numerous posts — show some chivalry in your posts and a feeling for or a capacity for sharing in the interests of others.

Editor’s note: The Signal also ran Letters to the Editor in the June 21 issue of the paper. We have seen a bit of a drop-off in submitted letters, as we tend to do every summer, but The Signal publishes every letter it receives that meets our standards and is not out of date.
