San Luis Obispo City firefighters look at the remnants of a plane that crashed outside the Promega building hitting a FedEd truck in the process Monday in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) — A small plane crashed into an unoccupied, parked Fed Ex truck Monday, shortly after taking off from San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.

San Luis Obispo county fire officials said one person was killed when the plane went down around 1 p.m.

City firefighters were able to put out the flames from the wreckage next to the Promega Biosciences building, which contains flammable chemicals, fire officials said.

The accident site is about 1.5 miles northwest of the Central Coast airport.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the plane was a twin-engine Cessna P337H. Gregor said the plane crashed under unknown circumstances.
