A convicted murderer and registered sex offender who lives in Acton has been ordered to stand trial on rape charges, a District Attorney’s spokeswoman said Thursday.

After two days of testimony presented at a preliminary hearing, an Antelope Valley Superior Court judge ordered Arthur Eugene Lindsey, 73, to stand trial for two counts of rape of an unconscious person, one count of oral copulation of an unconscious person and one count of sexual penetration of an unconscious person, said District Attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison.

Lindsey, who is being held on $1.4 million bail, is expected to be arraigned on the charges next month.

On Wednesday, a parole officer testified he went to Lindsey’s mobile home on June 5 and found a woman inside the home who was naked and “under the influence,” prompting Lindsey’s arrest.

Lindsey was convicted of murder during the commission of rape on Jan. 29, 1965, in Pike County, Indiana, court papers filed in Los Angeles show.

He served 33 years in prison before moving to Acton.
