Santa Clarita’s “Summer Blast” kicked off this week, offering SCV youth up to eight weeks of afternoon activities to stay busy while school’s out.

The activities at the Newhall and Canyon Country community centers have a theme each week, including Superhero Day, Sports Day, Animal Day and Mismatch Day.

Youngsters ages 5-12 are invited to join in the activities. A $20 registration fee per week is charged for each child; the fee is $25 for non-city residents.

“Summer Blast offers a variety of special programs and opportunities and provides a fun and structured setting for youth to participate in enrichment activities, crafts, games and more,” said Mayor Bob Kellar.
