PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — A man who made a 911 call that ended with Pasadena police fatally shooting a college student has pleaded guilty to making a false report.

Oscar Carrillo will serve a 90-day jail sentence after pleading guilty Monday.

Carrillo told a police dispatcher he was robbed at gunpoint by two young men last year. He mentioned a gun eight times during the emergency call.

Responding officers shot 19-year-old Kendrec McDade, who was unarmed. Carrillo later acknowledged he lied about guns in hopes of getting a faster police response.

An autopsy found McDade was shot seven times.

Carrillo pleaded guilty to two false reporting misdemeanor charges. Besides jail, Carrillo will also perform 90 days of community service and pay $3,000 to Pasadena police.
